Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) may be required elements for obtaining planning consent for specified development projects.  Where required, the planning authority needs to be satisfied that all environmental issues that may affect the site have been considered, potential impacts appropriately assessed, and where necessary, adequate mitigation provided.
