Geotechnical Investigation - Norfolk
As part of their term agreement with Norwich City Council Harrison Geotechnical was asked to assess the cause of structural distress within an end terrace house in Norwich.
An initial investigation through window sampling and dynamic penetration testing revealed very loose soils to depths in excess of 15m and no evidence of the chalk bedrock anticipated at 10.0m depth. The investigation was subsequently extended to include the broader lateral extent of the expected solution feature.
Cable percussive techniques and dynamic probing were utilised to prove an area of loose soils over 20m in diameter and ranging in depths from 5m to 20m. Harrison Group advised on the drilling and grouting of the ground and Norwich City Council demolished the neighbouring house prior to stabilisation.
