Site Investigation - Malta Freeport
Malta Freeport is now a major trans-shipment hub container terminal. Harrison Geotechnical was called in when there was just one Terminal. During a seven-year period it undertook the geotechnical investigation and design for an extension to Terminal One and the new Terminal Two. These projects included: quay walls constructed from: contiguous bored piles, and vibrocompacted rock-filled cofferdams, land reclamation and deep-water compaction using dynamic compaction, and piled foundations for crane rails.
During this period Harrison also introduced construction quality management methods to the client, including obtaining third-party ISO 9000 series certification for the design, construction and operation divisions of the Malta Freeport Corporation.
